A Great Day!!!!
When I was in the 8th grade Mr. Fite recommended to me and a couple of other students that we attend HBCUs because they produce strong African Americans and give great experiences. I'm glad that I took his advice and went to a HBCU because he was right. It is definitely empowering to see young african americans come together for a positive purpose. The Atlanta University Center is the area educating the largest number of african americans in one place. Here in Atlanta there are so many different cultures brought together for a common cause. I am so grateful for such an opportunity. I get to learn more than just what happened in Ancient Africa, and how to solve derivitives....I get to learn the different cultures from so many different people. Despite our differences, you learn that you have so much in common with the people around you. But anyway.....my day. Today I had my calculus midterm...Oh Boy! i went to class early to study a little bit with my friends. My teacher finally got to class so everyone went inside and sat down in preparation to take the exam. I was expecting not to know anything that he put on the exam which would lead to me failing it. To my surprise, when i got the exam I actually knew how to solve the problems on it. That definitely started my day off right!!! I went to my yoga class (yes i have yoga as a class. lol) and was complimented on my ability to execute the movements....another good point for today! I just had to call the important people in my life and tell them my good news about my day. My english midterm was a breeze. TODAY WAS A GREAT DAY!!! Now i'm in my room studying for my biology midterms. That class is no joke. Studying is definitely essential for passing these classes. It's no biggie though, I have goals and this is all helping me achieve them. Study hard and it will pay off in the end. Don't sweat the small stuff and always have faith in yourself and your abilities. And sometimes you just have to go along with a situation and fake the funk :)

Hello my name is Breja' Sterling I am in the 8th grade at Cornerstone Redford Campus.I like that you have many goals in your life.My question for you is how is the college life out side of Detroit, and is it different in Atlanta.
(For iyahanna) Going to high school right after college is the best way to remain focused on your goals. I'm glad that u want to go to Spelman because it is definitely a great school. Actually, Spelman is in the Atlanta University Center where I go to school, so i guess u can say i kinda go to school there too. it's right across the street. Maybe one day u can come visit me and i can show u where u'll be in a few years.
(For Meon and Breja) I absolutely LOVE school in Atlanta. Atlanta is one of the most successful places in America for African Americans which is a very positive thing. You have to stay focused though because there is a lot to do and if you don't stay focused then u can definitely become sidetracked and lose out on a great opportunity. I would recommend for all students to leave home and go to school. It definitely makes you grow as a person. (go out of state...)
