Blog

Hello everyone...I owe you all a big apology. I'm very sorry that I haven't been on the blog lately, but there is an explanation. One saturday I let my friend borrow some of my bleach to wash his clothes, so when he got done we decided to go to the mall and the movies. I put the bleach back into my bookbag and put the bookbag on the extra bed in his room. When it was time for me to leave later that night, i picked up my bookbag and noticed that there was a white spot where my bookbag had been. I looked inside my bookbag and there was bleach everywhere. the worst part is that my computer was in my bookbag. So now my computer does not work at all and I have no computer except if i get the chance to borrow one of my friends' computers. Sorry everyone. But how have you all been? I've been pretty good. The semester is almost over, but that's no big deal. My birthday is in a week and a day. I am so excited!!! I just can't wait. Write in the blog to let me know that you all haven't given up on me yet...Thanks

I like Wednesdays

Hey everybody..hope ur day was good. Today I went to all of my classes, which is nothing new. Nothing exciting has really happened yet today other than the fact that I finally folded my clothes that i washed on sunday....hey, i can be lazy sometimes!!! On Wednesdays, Morehouse (the all male institution in the AUC) has this thing called Hump Wednesday. Wut they do is, there's a DJ who plays good music, and there are ppl barbequing, and people stand around and sing, dance, and just socialize. It's really nice, because all of the schools can be in one place without hostility among us. I like Wednesdays because of this. That's where I will be going in a little while. After that I'm going to my friends room so I can study biology for my test on Friday...Oh yeah, sometimes when you hear people telling you to do something that you may not want to do, it's wise that you do it. Your friends and/or parents care about you, so when they give you advice it's because they have your best interests at heart and they're trying to watch out for u....Prime Example: ME!!! i sit in the fourth row in Biology and i get frustrated because i can't see since my glasses broke. My mom and my friend both told me to sit in the front row. Although i don't want to, i recognize that wut they are telling me is right...I'm gonna hate doing it, but from now on i guess i'll be sittin in the front row in biology
This has been a really good week so far....Today i went to my classes then i went with my friend to Target...u all....target is not close to campus...we have to walk to the train station, then take a 20 minute train ride, then walk about another 20 minutes to get to target...just in case u all don't know, these train systems are similar to subways...they're actually very helpful. better than buses. But we made that walk. after doing it so many times, it isn't even really bad anymore. Now i have to get focused..I have 2 tests on Friday, and one of them is in that dreadful biology class....we're gonna work this out some way.. u all have a great day at school, and plz keep out of trouble

A better day

Thank you so much for all of your support last week...It did end up being extremely hectic. Every day was a new challenge, but i made it through. My weekend was very nice though. I got a lot of studying done. It really helps when you have a friend to study with and help keep you on track. So if you need help studying, i'd advise you to find a study partner so you all can help each other. But anyway, this is a new week, so that means new things will be happening. Have fun this week and be safe, don't get into any trouble. If you know what you're about to do is wrong, just don't do it. I hope to hear from you all soon.

Sorry Everybody

Sorry about my absence. This weekend has been extremely hectic for me, and i can see now that this week will also. (This is gonna be short). Real talk ppl, no matter what happens in your life, keep your head up and be strong. There are very few ppl in your life that you can depend on and sometimes you can't even depend on them. There's a reason that we go through the challenges that we do, we come out better people in the end. So right now, I'm just trying to find out what the rest of my week is gonna be like because it's not looking good at all....I hope u guys have a good week though. (Don't be mad at me if i don't get to write again until the end of the week, i'm really trying)

Nothing Special

Today wasn't anything very exciting. I went to my classes and survived through them then i came back to my dorm. I went to a meeting for the NAACP here at CAU. I don't know if i want to return yet though. They didn't really seem as connected to the main branches as I'm used to. Later I went to this talk about safe sex and protecting yourself, which is very important. In college people have the freedom to make their own decisions without anyone telling them when and where, which helps put people at risk. It was very interesting. I really enjoyed it! that was basically all of my day. I'm kind of bored now in my room about to go insane because i don't have anyone to talk to at this time of the night...i'll be okay tho. maybe i'll just go to sleep

So Excited!!!

Today has been a pretty good day so far. When I went to biology this morning I actually understood wut my professor was talking about...that's a first. lol. I went through the rest of my classes and headed to my biology lab, which i never look forward to because it's two and a half hours long...It was great tho! Only because i found out that I got a 104% on my biology lab midterm....PPL! that is awesome! i'm telling you, if I can do it YOU can do it too...Just invest some time in studying and i promise you, you will be so happy to see how well you did. Also surround yourself with positive ppl. Your friends should always encourage you and have faith in you. You should be able to call them and tell them how well you did and they tell you congratulations...those are the type of friends that every person needs...I have my good friends. Don't ever give up on yourself. You all just don't understand how i struggle in biology. I HAVE CALLED EVERYONE WITH THE GOOD NEWS!!! have faith in yourself, i definitely have faith in you. I mean, come on...ur Mr. Fite's students!!!That means ur the best of the best and ur being taught and encouraged by the best. If you can't think of anyone else who has faith in you to do your best, know that u'll always have me and Mr. Fite. I hope you all have a great week! And be safe.....

My Weekend

Sorry everyone, I was a little busy and forgot to write in my blog...But we're just gonna knock out the entire weekend in this one entry...So friday was the end of Midterms (Thank God). People were going to this party called LaTex which doesn't really sound right, but actually stands for the Louisiana Texas Club.lol. I stayed inside and hung out with my friend. Saturday I went out with my best friend to the movies and the mall and saw the new Tyler Perry movie " Why did I get married". That man definitely has skills because that movie was great. That was a good day for me. Today I went to church (as usual). I go to Bishop Eddie Long's church, called New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. You may have seen it on BET. but anyway, it was such a coincidence that Tyler Perry was at church today. The sermon was good and meaningful. It helps when you have someone there to share the experience with. After church I went to Publix (a grocery store) to restock my food supply then went to sleep. After I woke up I ordered some pizza. These pizza ppl at Papa Johns are so ghetto, they call u 5 minutes before they get outside to tell you to come out. When you get outside u have to wait for them to get there, then they don't want to get out of their cars to give you your food. Ridiculous!!! Well that was basically my weekend. This week is abou to be fun tho. Today begins the week of the Spelman/Morehouse homecoming week....FUN FUN FUN!!!!!

It's cold outside

Nothing exciting really happened to day other than the fact that it was cold outside. But it's nothing that i can't handle, i'm from Michigan. My friend from Arizona thought it was freezing outside. It was hilarious. It's been a dull day because of the weather. I went to class, wrote a paper and i'll be in my room for the remainder of the day. Hey, everyday can't be exciting. It's time for chill mode, and that's definitely wuts up!

A Great Day!!!!

When I was in the 8th grade Mr. Fite recommended to me and a couple of other students that we attend HBCUs because they produce strong African Americans and give great experiences. I'm glad that I took his advice and went to a HBCU because he was right. It is definitely empowering to see young african americans come together for a positive purpose. The Atlanta University Center is the area educating the largest number of african americans in one place. Here in Atlanta there are so many different cultures brought together for a common cause. I am so grateful for such an opportunity. I get to learn more than just what happened in Ancient Africa, and how to solve derivitives....I get to learn the different cultures from so many different people. Despite our differences, you learn that you have so much in common with the people around you. But anyway.....my day. Today I had my calculus midterm...Oh Boy! i went to class early to study a little bit with my friends. My teacher finally got to class so everyone went inside and sat down in preparation to take the exam. I was expecting not to know anything that he put on the exam which would lead to me failing it. To my surprise, when i got the exam I actually knew how to solve the problems on it. That definitely started my day off right!!! I went to my yoga class (yes i have yoga as a class. lol) and was complimented on my ability to execute the movements....another good point for today! I just had to call the important people in my life and tell them my good news about my day. My english midterm was a breeze. TODAY WAS A GREAT DAY!!! Now i'm in my room studying for my biology midterms. That class is no joke. Studying is definitely essential for passing these classes. It's no biggie though, I have goals and this is all helping me achieve them. Study hard and it will pay off in the end. Don't sweat the small stuff and always have faith in yourself and your abilities. And sometimes you just have to go along with a situation and fake the funk :)

College isn't easy

College is not very easy. In college you gain responsibilities that you do not understand quite how to handle. You don't have your parents to wake you up and make you go to school, nor is there anyone there to make sure you stay on task. In the AUC (Atlanta University Center) dorms have representatives, sometimes of the opposite sex. At Spelman there is a dorm called HH that had a pageant for their representative, a guy that will be named Mr. HH. My best friend Joshua was in the pageant. Unfortunately Josh didn't win the title Mr. HH, but he did come out a winner holding the title Mr. Pink and Blue (the dorms colors). It makes a person feel good to know that they have supported their friends in their endeavors, whether they want to or not. The friend also appreciates the support given and recognize exactly how great of a friend you are. College has taught me the value of relationships and how easy it is to sever a friendship without those intentions. That's definitely a good thing. Unfortunately, this week is midterms which means super studying in order to pass classes. This college thing is not easy.......but I love it!

HELLO CORNERSTONE ACADEMY REDFORD

Hi everybody. I'm Alex and I spoke with Mr. Fite about his 6th grade class that decided to write me letters. I can't wait until I get them. I am very honored that you all want to learn about me and in return I am very excited to learn about you all. I am at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia now, but there was a time that I was sitting in Mr. Fite's class listening intently to him and what he was teaching. Listen to what he's saying....he's definitely a wise man. I'm where i am now because of him. As soon as I get your letters I'll respond to them. Can't wait to be your pen pals....

Cornerstone Academy Redford Campus

Hello Alex,

My students look forward to you being their penpals. I look forward to a wonderful relationship between you and the Cornerstone family. Best wishes to you.
